What to Look For in a Personal Trainer

So what exactly is personal training?
It seems like a pretty straightforward question that should have a straight forward answer, right? Get ready to be surprised!
It seems pretty obvious to most that when hiring a personal trainer you should be getting the best of a few worlds. Those being your cardiovascular performance, strength and endurance, and nutrition advice. Some trainers are even big into supplementation advice. Now, believe it or not you might get this from 10% of the trainers around!
Unfortunately a lot of trainers forget about neuromuscular adaptation and create “cookie cutter” programs that they themselves might use!
So what should you be looking for in a trainer? In order to create customized, personal training programs the trainer must recognize the interactions of the nervous system and the entire kinetic chain.
This means that we as trainers must be very aware of the clients Central Nervous System and Peripheral Nervous System. After all that is really what training is, adapting the body to a stimulus. In fact, the first few weeks to a month of training is usually the body having better communication between the nervous system and the musculoskeletal system. This is known as The Law of Facilitation.
When training someone you must be aware of this, and change your program so that the person may adapt to a new set of stimuli and make real gains. Of course we should also be aware of what learning process they are using. Most people new to exercise are using cognitive learning, and are really listening for their trainers cues! Again too many trainers might neglect this, so watch out!
We want clients to progress, and not be that staple of the gym that has been doing the exact same exercise for years, and looks exactly the same. Guess what, their body has mechanically perfected that workout, adapted, and now can’t move on.
There is a way around the dreaded plateau, and as trainers we must always remember the simple FITT principle:
Frequency: how often you exercise
Intensity: how hard you work during exercise
Time: how long you exercise, and
Type: what type of activity you’re doing
We must be aware within our micro and mesocycles to change at least one or two of these, to prevent general adaptation by the body. I will talk to you more about FITT and periodization in later articles! Happy training to both the trainers and the clients, don’t ever stop learning!…

To begin with, when people talk about “fat eliminating foods” they’re referring to a process known as the thermogenic effect, that is simply the calories expended while absorbing, moving and storing the food. There are certain types of food items which melt away more calories than others during this process, which has lead them to being called “fat burning foods”.

If you enjoy these then by all means add them into your diet plan, but don’t expect any calorie burning magic. They might help your body burn more calories, however the quantity of calories expended is very small.

Today’s Frugal Tip – The Many Uses of Lemon Juice

Let’s learn about the many uses and benefits of lemon juice. There are so many uses for lemon juice, that we will be here all day listing them. And, since I’m sure you’ll be bored by the first 10 or so, we’ll just touch on the most surprising and helpful tips. The number one most popular use is, of course the yummy lemonade drink on a warm summer day. Not the most helpful or surprising, but certainly the most yummiest.
As I’ve already written in my other frugal tip article, lemon juice is great on the skin. When the natural oils on our skin blocks pores, acne forms. The ph level and the level of acid in lemon juice makes it a great mild antibacterial cleanser for acne prone skin. For blackheads, it is recommended to rub the juice of a fresh lemon with a cotton ball or your fingers at bedtime on a stubborn pimple and rinse well in the morning. It is also an efficient and cost effective way to remove dead skin cells to brighten up an oily complexion. It’s also been known to diminish the appearance of acne scars and age spots.
I use lemon juice on my hair when it gets dull or too greasy from over conditioning, I pour some lemon juice from a cup on my hair after shampooing. It brightens it up and adds a little bounce to it.
Did you know, lemon juice is an effective antibacterial for cleaning wood cutting boards? Or, how about the way it shines wood furniture with a touch of olive oil? And, it’s aromatherapy uses to mood enhancement? I already use it for polishing my furniture, but may have to get some cute little decorative dishes to pour some in to sniff for when I need a lift in my mood.
When I don’t have a scrub sponge for cleaning off burned food, I take a half of a lemon, dip it in some sugar and scrub away. This tip I use quite frequently since I often burn food. As my husband says, “You can’t cook from the living room.” I get a bit distracted at times.
Don’t throw away those rinds, either. I like to cut them into quarters and shove them down my garbage disposal to deodorize it. And, sometimes I put some rind in with my homemade potpourri.
Obviously, lemon juice is lemon juice. But the bottled kind has been sitting on a store shelf a lot longer than a fresh lemon and has lost a lot of nutrients. Whenever possible, use fresh.
One tip that I found while researching for this article was to rub a freshly cut lemon on fingertips to whiten them. I am excited to try this tip. But first, I must go to the store; I am out of lemons.…

Is Life Only About Struggle?

“Life is a big struggle.” How many times have this beautiful quote crossed our minds? How many times have we pondered over this question? It’s true, life is a struggle but we have to start thinking beyond that. Do not put a full stop after the word ‘struggle’ instead add the word ‘but’ before the word struggle because there are many other good qualities in life too which send positive vibes.
The ups and downs we come across are all part and parcel of this life and we cannot run away from those small and big parcels whether it be of happiness or pangs of sorrow. Just imagine, we spend half our lives studying how to live our lives and the remaining half we spend nagging about the brutality of life and this habit only makes it more obvious that there’s no room for happiness to creep into our lives, we’re shunning away from all the positive aspects of life. At this very moment if you’re reading this article be glad that you are in good health, if you wake up the next day feel fortunate that you are being given a chance to become a better person or its a chance to work towards your ambitions. Ponder on all these points; is life still only about struggle? I don’t think so. Think about all the small packages of happiness you come across throughout the day. Starting from the security guard who greets you as you leave for work to all those people who do small errands for you throughout the day and remember we don’t pay them to greet us, they greet and help us because they care for us and this means there are still many good people in this world.
We’ll be completely wrong if we think our struggles will end only after we achieve that ‘one great goal’ which we’ve been aiming for years and most of the time its financial freedom, say, a dream job, a house, setting up a business and vice versa. All these reminds me of a quote which says “aim for the stars even if you miss you’ll land on the moon” Our minds should be ready to accept both the outcomes. If there were no failures in life and everybody succeeded, this world, definitely is not inhabited by the human species. We can never be satisfied if we do not have the ability to recognize the positive qualities life has showered on us. Lets think about all those poor people going to sleep hungry, homeless people, victims of war, orphans, etc, now who is struggling more? Imagine sleeping on the streets and struggling for one square meal. Life indeed is a big struggle but feel fortunate if you are in good health, have food to eat and a roof to shelter you.…

Good Health just isn’t something that you just buy from a drug store or a department store, but may be achieved by working towards collective patterns of health-related habits, primarily based on selections created from obtainable options.\n\nExcept in the rare circumstances during which vitamins or minerals are added, it supplies only empty calories, taste without any nutrition or food value. Bottled, or ready-to-drink (RTD) iced tea is normally not much healthier than soda and in a number of circumstances can really be worse or more harmful or hazardous to health.\n\nThis is significantly good for browning minced or ground meats, bacon and sausages. Shallow and dry frying are often used to brown off complete pieces of meat before putting them into a casserole or other kind of dish and it can be very successful in removing any fat from the meats.\n\n9.Develop a habit of ingesting no less than 10 glasses of water, which is able to help to keep your body hydrated. Egg whites may be stored as onerous-boiled eggs, or break the eggs, remove the yolk, place the egg whites in a plastic container with a very small amount of water, microwave, add pepper and it’s able to eat!
