Petite Shoe Sizes: A Buying Guide
Being a woman who has feet that are lower than average in size can make it difficult to find correctly fitting shoes that appeal to you without having to select something from the children’s range.
The problem with an adult wearing shoe that are specifically for children is that the size of the shoe may be the perfect fit for your petite foot but it may be in a style that you do not feel comfortable with, maybe you would prefer something a little bit more conservative and basically a bit more grown up. The children’s selection is fine if you just need a pair of training shoes to exercise or to wear whilst you go jogging since there frequently is very little discernible difference between an adult pair of shoes and a child’s but if you want a pair of shoes for an official event and require an evening footwear with a heel for a special event, something out of your children’s range might not be suitable.
The children’s shoes departments of most stores do not exactly target and cater for adult petite size feet and the selection of shoes on offer for women needing small shoes can range from the very limited to almost nonexistent if you want to really avoid girls’ shoes with detailing such as flowers and satin bows.
You really need to find a company that specializes in fashionable styles specifically for grown women with small feet. Fortunately there are a good selection of specialist retailers available that do sell ranges of adult style footwear for a niche market such as women with smaller than average sized feet.
High heels, stiletto heels, peep toes, sexy sling backs and knee length boots will probably all be hard styles of shoes for women with small feet to find amongst children’s ranges as they are all specifically adult style shoes. Running shoes, like I said, can often cross age constraints in style without being too noticeable but if a woman has been invited to attend a formal dress event this means she will have to go and look elsewhere to find high-heeled footwear for a special occasion. Women with a foot size less than a standard women’s shoe size 1 are very likely to find it difficult to buy new footwear without seeking a specialist retailer specifically selling women’s footwear in smaller sizes.
Petite feet.
It’s a niche market as much as are those retailers marketing products in the oversized marketplace for sneakers and apparel. Manufacturers do generally concentrate on the average sizes worn by the majority of people but just as there are manufacturers that concentrate on plus sizes there are also a small niche of online retailers that concentrate on supplying the smaller sizes too for adults because not many adults really want to have the children’s range as the only available option.
